Types of Boats and Benefits Of Boating

Boating is an activity full of fun and traveling which can be done by a simple boat or recreational use of a boat either as powerboats (sailboats) or man-powered boats (like paddle and rowing boats). The main focus of boating is traveling, but it is also a source of other activities like fishing or waterskiing. Boating is popular all over the world. Several people are active boaters who use it as their main profession. The boat is a watercraft which varies over a large range of type and size. Ships are generally different from boats based on the shape, larger size, passenger or cargo capacity, and efficiency to carry boats. Small boats are typically present on inland waterways like rivers or lakes, or in protected coastal areas. However, some boats like whaleboat were appointed to use in an offshore environment.

In modern terms, a boat is a vessel small enough to be carried abroad a ship. Boats differ in proportion and construction methods due to their future purpose, local traditions, or available materials. Fishing boats differ widely in style of construction to match local conditions. Pleasure crafts use in new boating era, including pontoon boats, ski boats, and sailboats. Houseboats use for long-term stay, residence, or vacation. Lighters are used to transport cargo to and from large ships which are unable to get close to the shore. Lifeboats are used for rescue and safety purposes

History

From the early Mesolithic period, around 8,000 years BC, Pesse canoe is believed to be the world’s oldest boat. The boat was discovered in the Netherlands in 1955. A wooden dugout canoe was made from a pine tree which was hollowed and dug out by hand using flint along with stone tools. This primitive boat may seem too ancient to us now but was actually designed carefully to support the weight of its team while being lightweight enough to move through the water. It was a grand start to a lifelong pursuit of boat making process. Humans figured out that anything that can float on the water can be tied together to create a boat. Humans used bamboo, reeds, or wood logs and tied them together with ropes such as vines and palm fibers in ancient times.

Early rafts are used for transportation, fishing platforms, and floating villages where people live their whole life on the water. These rafts were often moved by propelling water with large poles or paddling, but steering was an issue in this case thus later sails were added to the rafts in order to improve the voyage. These types of boats reported in history lessons of many countries from Asia to Africa and South America in all kinds have unique and different styles using natural resources that were abundant there.

Coracles

At the time, humans were becoming smarter; the design innovations of boats start to show. By wrapping a solid frame with a hydrophobic skin was the first way to go. Coracles were the crafts that used wicker baskets for frames and skin was made up of either leather or cloth mostly coated with resin/pitch. These crafts were very popular in wales and Scotland (hence also known as welsh) but were also getting popular in Vietnam, India, Tibet, and Iraq.

Birchbark Canoe

Native Americans fabricated the birchbark canoe developed from a frame of wooden ribs and covered with hand sewn patches of bark. Birchbark held a distinct kind of beauty. It was a perfect choice because of its lightweight, smooth, resilient, and waterproof. Joints were sealed with spruce resin or hot pine.

The Kayak

The kayak was first developed by the Inuit people of the arctic. It was built with wooden framed wrapped in sealskin. The word “kayak” means “hunters boat” and it was used for that purpose. The Inuit developed their kayak with a hole for boater and even wrapped with air filled seal bladders. Kayak was designed for special purposes depending upon its need. It could be longer or shorter for balance and speed, or wider for more space. Kayak industry was revolutionized in the 1950’s as the fiberglass came into being. This was followed up by the introduction of plastics, and the first plastic kayak was developed in 1984.

Benefits Of Boating

Adventure

Boating has always been a great activity full of adventures from the very first boaters that set vessels to discover new worlds to present fishermen and merchant seamen of today who go down to the sea in ships. The captains and teams who fought the world’s great sea wars, the seamen who developed world trade routes around the globe, and the birchbark canoe men were adventurers all.

Bonding

Boating can be done alone, but great pleasure and satisfaction is in boating with our loved ones, bonding with family and friends, and enhancing teamwork make boating go better. Working together to leave the doc, cruising, racing, returning to harbor, and anchoring can increase life and relationships. Boating, maybe, offers the grand opportunity for crew building, but pedal boating of two men canoeing does the same.

Craftmanship

Boats require craftsmen more than that of airplanes or automobiles. There is always something to improve or fix on the boat. There is a crack to mend, or a bottom to clean, or a leak to plug; something to paint, polish or varnish, or a broken line to splice or replace. Maybe there is a block to grease or a bolt to tighten. Maybe the engine needs oil to change or packing to stuff. There are endless reasons which need craftsmen.

Developing skills, wisdom, and confidence:

Boating is always a means of learning new things and explores the world. There is never a day when boaters are not required to make a quick decision which they have not made before. Boats do not give life threats as automobiles, but they seem to be. The bigger risk in boating is to boater’s ego for there are times when wave, wind, or current becomes the controller. And with loss of ego, wisdom comes. In this way, boating give self-confidence to the boaters to take over unexpected situations.

Education

Boating requires learning all things about it. Boats have fronts and rears. Canoes and dinghies have sterns and bows. There are knots boaters must learn to tie. Boaters should have the education in seamanship, rules of the routes, and safety. He should have learned about piloting and chart reading, how to read the weather and the water, and how to anchor. They need to know how to launch and retrieve, and how to balance the load; it is not as easy as it looks. Continuing education is the name of game in boating.

Fun

Boating is the simple name of fun: towing youngsters in a tube, wakeboarding and wake surfing, skimming at high speed over flat water, shooting white water in a kayak, diving into dark blue water in the middle of a lake, heeling a sailboat into the wind, trolling for fish, or just rocking gently at anchor in a quiet cove and reading a magazine or a book. It’s all about fun.

Health

Boating is other means of exercise. It’s not aerobic unless boaters are paddling a kayak into a stiff headwind, or in a canoe race, or cranking winches on a racing yacht, or developing long offshore passages that every muscle in their body works in a boat. Even when boaters are simply doing an anchor, their body is working as the boat rocks and rolls. They get fresh, healthy air and vitamin D.

Intrepidness

It requires some intrepidness just to buy a boat as the buyer is committing to a non-essential capital expenditure, mooring expenses, and continued maintenance costs. It takes still more intrepidness to move out into the unknown, unknown can be a small lake. But if a boater is going to make it, he is special. He is intrepid.

Joy

Fun is the main reason for boating. It holds great importance in a boater’s life. Joy is more than gaiety or happiness. It is actually an elevation of their entire spirit rejoicing. Does boating give joy to the boaters? Ask a kayaker who has come out of a class 4 or 5 rapids, a power boater who followed the moon on water to a lovely anchorage, a racing sailor who has made all the right tracks at the right times to take first place in a windy race, a young child came back from his first pedal boat excursion, or a wakeboarder who has gotten major air. Their adventures are out there, their joy unbounded.

Addendum

People do not have to own a boat to become a boater. They can rent or charter, by the hour, the day, or the month. They can join the crew of boat owners. They can do partnership with boat owners who want a partner to share the expenses. Even if these commitments are more than you afford, you can hop on a scheduled ferry, board a fishing party boat, signup for a guided kayak tour, or join a group excursion. Whatever it requires, get away!

Getting away from stress

Boaters leave stress behind when they take their boat out; all stress they face at work, at home, or at school. Boating is an activity which consumes their attention. They are aware of each second about what is happening now, what is going on next. The more daring is their trip or the more they venture into a new place or find out a new seamanship technique, the more they get away from harsh terrestrial worries.

Boat Safety:

Boating is a recreational activity. We can say that it thrills but kills. So one should keep in mind that precautionary measures or boat safety courses which are affordable and complete in a day. Here we share some valuable information related to the boating for safety.

Alcohol:

The most restricted thing during boating is alcohol. It is not only prohibited during driving a car but is also harmful during boating as well. One should keep in mind the harmful consequences of consuming alcohol during boating, as they are not only risking their lives but in case of any mishap they will be responsible for the others’ lives too for putting them in danger. Some of other facts which are common everywhere related to alcohol during boating are discussed below:

  • It is illegal to operate a boat under the influence of alcohol and considered a serious crime in most of the regions. In some regions limitation to blood alcohol percentage is 0.8; also the limit is same for boating and driving as well. Sometimes a person is considered legally drunk even if he has not reach blood alcohol level to that limit may be due to some other reasons like individuals’ metabolisms ‘inability to process the alcohol properly, not eaten much or consumed any medicine.
  • There are some other factors which make alcohol more dangerous for boaters during boating as Sun, noise, wind, vibrations, waves and marine stress can cause more impact on a person who consumed alcohol. This increases drinker’s level of impairment which results in faster impact on coordination, judgment and, reaction. His cognitive abilities collapse and judgment fails; unable to keep balance his own balance; impairment in vision, coordination and reaction time; disturbance in inner ear and impairment in physical sensation of the warmth.

If the alcohol blood concentration reaches the level of 0.10 percent than it is estimated that there is 10 times more risk of dying in boat accidents than zero alcohol blood percentage.

Wear life jacket:

When you are going for boating then don’t forget to wear life jacket. Life jackets saved more than 80 percent of the lives during boat accidents every year. Modern life jackets are thin, flexible, and compact so no can find excuse to deny wearing a life jacket. There are some rule related to life jackets that should be followed

  • Life jackets of appropriate size, accessible and in good condition should be there on the boat. Type IV throwable device should also be there on the 16 feet or longer boats.
  • Children on a boat should definitely wear life jackets which is specific to their size and weight. After buying life jackets for the child it must be tested in water to check buoyancy and it should be fit to the child so he could not slip through it. The child must be taught to remain relax in water when he is in life jacket.
  • In certain regions it is essential to wear life jacket during activities like water skiing. A life jacket should be tested at least once in a year for the assurance that it is in good condition otherwise should be discarded.

Follow the precautions:

Before going for boating you should read and understand the precautions for boating because they are written for you and your safety. Here are some general precautions and rules that will be helpful for you:

  • Boating laws must be understood and should be followed like one should have boating license or certification and others. The certain age limit is also given for boating in some states that should also be kept in mind. Either you are not required for boating certification; it is advised to have it for sake of your knowledge and safety.
  • One must have a float plan that where is he going and with whom, when will they return. This plan should be known to someone of his family members so that in case of any mishap he would be able or responsible for starting search if they don’t return when expected. It is advised that one should mail that plan to anyone of his family member.

Pre-boarding safety checks:

There are also some rules of pre-boarding safety checks that should be remembered before the boating. Here are some:

  • Check the requirements of the boat for example gas tank, engine oil transmission fluid level, battery charging, fluid levels, gear and other components of the boat are in good condition and working properly.
  • After refilling open the hatches and run blower to sniff for fumes if you smell fumes then don’t start the engine.
  • Boat license or other certifications and documentations should be with you.
  • Along with life jackets other safety equipment must be on the boat like fire extinguisher, extra batteries, lights, cell phone, maps, flair and first aid kit.

Check weather conditions:

Without checking the local weather conditions, it is highly recommended that don’t leave the dock. Weather conditions can be suddenly changed even if it is nice at that moment of sail. One must have radio and updates about the weather while on the boat. Whenever you notice the changings in the weather conditions like dark skies, wind shifts, lightening and choppy water, immediately try to leave the water.

Boat propellers:

Boat propellers can cause the major injuries so look out for them.

  • First check that all of the passengers are on the boat before starting the engine. Make sure no one is in the water.
  • Child safety should be kept in mind that they should not go near the area where they could fall near the boat propellers.
  • Always use propeller guards according to the boat type.

Be aware of the surroundings:

While boating one should take care of the surrounding boats and swimmers and for there and their own safety should remain at a safe distance. One should follow the signs, rules, and directions established by the local authorities.

What to do in case of falling someone over board:

Despite of following rules, regulations and safety tips sometime mishaps occur, then here are some tips:

  • Turn off the engine and propellers and stay away from them.
  • Don not panic and stay calm. If you are not wearing jacket then first look for a life jacket or other floating device. Don’t try to remove clothing or footwears as air trapped in the clothing can assist in additional floatation.

Things to carry on a boat

Normally people think that packing for a boat trip is same as packing for traveling on land. But it is not the right thought because adventure in water is more dangerous than on the land. So, before going on for boating many things should be kept in mind while packing your luggage. As at the time of need there will be no one from whom you can borrow things in the middle of the sea.

There are some main things needed for boating, so pack them first:

Proper paper work:

To drive a car, you need a driving license in the same way you need a license for fishing and boat registration paper. If these documents are not in your backpack or boat you cannot even leave from the shore.

Proper clothing:

It is more difficult to choose clothes for boating because weather in the sea changes drastically. For clothes three w’s are needed including wicking, warmth and weather. Polyester is the best option for wicking because it can wick your sweat. So, this layer should be next to your body skin. For warmth, people usually choose wool because it can keep body warm but it takes a long time to dry, so instead of it fleas dries easily. Whereas, a raincoat is used for weather protection. Besides all these things, extra outfits and swimming suites should pe packed so you can use other if one is wet.

Outer protection:

Sunburn is most common thing while boating. So, prevent it with a proper sunblock, big hat and sunglasses. Polarized sunglasses are better which can be use to see around without any hesitation. In the river or sea, boat remain wet almost all the time so for walking you need proper shoes or sandals that can prevent you from slipping.

Enough food and water for a crowd:

In water there are greater chances of dehydration so a person should drink 8 ounce per hour and should avoid alcohol and carbonated drink. For cold water large sized ice cubes are better than the small one. For eating those food is recommended that don’t cause dehydration.

Safety equipments:

  • PDFs (Personal Flotation Devices) known as life jackets are the most important thing required on a boat. USCG said that almost 84% people drowned because they were not wearing life jackets. Offshore life jackets are best for deep water. Throwable devices in form of rings and cushions are necessary items to save someone from drowning.
  • Fire extinguisher is the important safety equipment if engine boats are used. Mostly Class B extinguishers are used because boats run on gasoline.
  • Visual Distress Signals is used so people can see you when in trouble. For small boats LED flare light and for larger one Handheld Red flares all are used for signaling. Before departure check the expiration date of flares and make ssure they are not more than 42 months old.
  • Beside that don’t forget to carry sound producing device such as horns, bells and whistles.
  • First Aid Kit is required all the time from the smaller injuries to the big ones. Cold fever medicines, wound treating drugs etc. should be available. “Medicine Guide for Ships” should also be kept.
  • VHF (very high frequency) radio should pe available so in trouble we can contact to the people, as cell phones don’t work in bad weather.
  • A Tool kit or multitool should be present so at least smaller mechanical problems can be solved.
  • A Navigation tool like a compass or GPS system is necessary because in the middle of water there are no roads nor boards which can tell us where to go.

Entertainment:

There is a lot of time on boat to spend with the fellows so you should bring deck card chess and other small games that can fit in your backpack. In the sea if you don’t dive how can you have fun so bring your own snorkel and mask for good fit.

Gifts for boaters

It is not necessary that you have to give the most expensive thing because an affordable thing will be valuable if it is given with love. The gift for the boater should be useful for him in his life in water. Gift choice totally depends upon the choice of person, but follow some guidelines for giving the best gifts:

1)ODOWALKER ELECTRONIC LED LIGHT MARINE DIGITAL COMPASS:

Compass is the necessary item for a boater in water usually it degrades over time but this compass ABS so it will not degrade. Moreover, due to LED light and adjustable brackets it is useful in night. It can be placed easily so it will not get lost.

2)YETI HOOPER POPRTABLE HOOPER:

It is one of the favorite items of boaters because it is 100% leakproof and has the capacity of carrying 24 cans cold for 6-7 days in summer. It is light weight so it will be not of any burden.

3)ROXANT AUTHENTIC HIGH DEFINITION GRIP SCOPE:

On a boat thing look different that in real so it is necessary to have monocular or binoculars. The monocular has a magnification power of 6x, and besides that it can be used while wearing glasses as it has a retractable eyepiece.

4) iBobber SMART FISH FINDER:

It is impossible that a boater doesn’t love to do fishing so a fish finder is the best thing as a gift. It is wireless and connected by Bluetooth to the cellphone. It has SONAR technology to detect fishes under a depth of 135 feet.

5)FRESH ICE CREAM MAKER:

If it is difficult to get fresh ice-cream on boat so here is the solution. This ice cream maker works without electricity just by spinning spiral exterior in 25 minutes.

6)BOOM SWIMMER: Parties in boats can’t be done without speakers but normal speakers are not useful there. Boom swimmer is shock and dust proof with a flexible tail to connect with the Urchin.

7) THE FLOWFOLD WALLET:

It is made up of the lightest and toughest material on land e.g. Carbon fiber and is as thin as a credit card and can hold 11 credit card and cash, isn’t it wonderful.

Boat Towing

In US, more than 95% of recreational boats are trailerable. If a person trailers the boat regularly, others probably have many more stories about the things which were wrong or could have had wrong if one’s skills and lucks were not on one’s side. Boat trailing seems easier.

Tow Vehicle

Make a checklist before towing. Firstly, make sure that your vehicle has good capacity to tow the trailer. Otherwise your engine is going to be overheat which is not a nice thing. Find the tow rate of vehicle by checking manual of owner. Manual gives us information about the maximum loading weight and maximum towing capacity. When towing is hard on a vehicle, fully synthetic oils should be used as it is helpful in maintaining the engine cooler.

Turn wide and Brake slowly

For turning a vehicle with a trailer requires more wide turns. If trailer has a turning ratio tighter, vehicle should be towed. Towing requires a lot of practice on the outside to permit wider turns. Plenty of space is required for changing exiting, lanes and stopping as it takes more time to slow down the trailer otherwise there is a risk of jackknifing when vehicles are towed on a busy highway. Acceleration also takes more tie when a boat is towed.

Trailer Hitches

The weight carrying hitch, weight distributing hitch and fifth wheel hitch are most common types of hitches. While buying a hitch, recommendations of trailer and tow vehicles are also referred to ensure whether this hitch is right for weight and type of trailer or not. Hitch is used to connect safety chains which are demanded by many states. A boatman always use weight distributing hitch while travelling to long distances as it is the best choice. It keeps the boat safe from swaying if bad weather is encountered during a trip.

Safety chains and Tie-down straps

Safety chains are crossed beneath the hitch before attacking to tow a vehicle by making sure adjustment of these chains are perfect to avoid dragging on the ground. Check properly if boat is not sliding off on the back of trailer by attaching safety chain from bow of boat to the trailer post. Tie down the trailer straps to trailer post for ensuring that it would not move backward or forward when it has to pause suddenly. Remove all straps before launching back the trailer into water.

Electrical connections

According to Federal law, trailers should have brake lights, trail lights, side marker lights, rear reflectors and turn signals side. Make sure wiring is connected and lights along with brakes are working properly. Unplug lights before launching back the trailer into water to avoid burning out of bulbs. Remember to plug backlights and bulbs before splashing the boat once and it is off the ramp of launch.

Trailers, tires bearing and brakes

Make sure that tow vehicle and trailer tires are properly inflated including spare tires. Check tightening of lug nuts on the trailer wheels. When tires are in under inflation, it reduces the weight carrying capacity of tow vehicle and trailer. When tires are in over inflation, it causes premature wearing of tires and handling affects. Check trail bearings before trailing and grease bearings according to their need. If bearing buddies are used, make sure that these bearings are filled with grease properly. Bearing buddies are used to avoid bearing failure on the boat trailers. Overfilling of such bearings with grease can seize bearings. Make sure that trailer brakes are working properly if trailer have breaks. Check properly brake fluid reservoir is also full in trailer.

Weight distribution

A trailer’s tongue weight is defined as the amount of weight that presses down the hitch of trailer. Tow vehicle and trailer should be equally parallel to the level of ground. When the tongue weight is too much high, it causes problems as the weight on front wheels of tow vehicle is not enough. It can cause steering issues in trailer. There is a need to consider weight distributing hitch that decreases scary fishtailing while driving trailer on an open road.

Mirror, Mirror

The extended mirrors, which are attached to existing mirrors on Suburban, was one of the best purchases of boat trailering a boatman ever made. These extra wide mirrors in trailer increases the viewing capacity of trailer on both sides of a truck by giving complete view of rear and sides of the trailer. Once the boatman reached at his destination, he simply unscrews mirrors of the trailer but these mirrors are very helpful particularly on the interstate or in navigation through areas under construction or through other tight spaces while driving a trailer.

Emergency tools

A full set of tools is necessary for trailering. Without tools, a boatman does not believe in trailering. So, always carry all necessary things needed to change the tire or dealing with other such incidents on road side. A couple of bits of wood and trailer jack is required for stability. Before trailering, also make sure the availability of loaded guns of grease, a lug wrench, wheel clocks along with emergency flares and roadside triangles. Recently, a boatman is raving through the set of magnetic LED emergency reflective flashers he purchased. Remember one thing, never trail without a fire extinguisher in the truck.

There are a lot of things to remember for trailering. It is better for trailers to make a checklist so that nothing worthy is skipped. If a trailer is traveling to the long distances, it is better to check trailer before initiating a trip and investigation of trailer should be done periodically along the way to remain aware of any malfunction in trailer. It seems that trailering is entertainment but it is a business of certain worth so it is necessary to check the owner’s manual for maintaining scheduled information of the tow vehicle and trailer. It will help the trailer to spent more time in water during trailering rather than on the road or in a repair shop.

Types Of Boats

Bass boat

Bass boats are commonly 14′ to 23′, and used for freshwater fishing. They possess a V hull and low freeboard. They are especially designed for bass fishing on inland rivers and lakes. They are relatively expensive because of special gear, trolling motors, and high horsepower outboards.

Bay boat

Bay boats have a fragile profile. They are specialized for use in shallow waters of huge shallow bays, near shore or estuaries. They are 18′ to 24′ in length and are made of fiberglass because of their use in salt or brackish waters. They have wider freeboard than flat boats.

Bowrider

A bowrider possess an open bow area fabricated for extra seats next to the helm. They are usually 17′ to 30′. They are generated by either outboard or stern drive engines. It is a family boat and can be used water sports and fishing. It’s a perfect choice for the beginners.

Center console

Center console ranges from 13′ to 45′. Their name is derived from the fact that their helm is on a console in the center of the boat. The open hull aids anglers walk from bow to stern without having to navigate around the console. Giant boats are used for offshore fishing and majority of them use outboard motors for propulsion.

Convertible fishing boat

Convertibles are 35 feet and bigger boats suited for offshore fishing and cruising. They contain large cabins, berths, and galleys. They are most suitable for offshore fishing and pleasure cruises. The flybridge with increased helm aids to spot fish or flotsam. They contain large fishing deck aft.

Flats boat

Flat boats are usually 14 feet to 18 feet in length and specifically crafted to navigate shallow waters needing extremely shallow drafts. Shallow waters are navigated by using a push pole.

High performance boat

These boats are designed for speed. Featuring narrow beam, high power to weight ratios, and steep deadrise. They possess Spartan cabins. Cockpit accommodates 2-6 passengers. They are carefully fabricated to be light, fast, strong, and best for fast cruising or racing. They are powered by stern drives, surface drives, or high horsepower outboards. They vary from 25-60 feet in length.

Houseboat

Houseboats are actually floating houses. They are either inboard or outboard propelled and range from 25-150 feet in length. They contain full bedrooms, kitchens, and living & dining areas. They are generally present on quieter bodies of water since they contain low freeboards and are constructed on a barge-like hull.

Inflatable boat

Inflatable boats are usually from 6-14 feet and possess inflatable tubes for their sides. The floor is flexible or made rigid by using aluminum or plywood floorboards depending on the size. Outboards motors are used on the rigid transom. They are easy to transport or store. They deflate. They can be used as dinghies on larger boats.

Multi species boat

These boats range from 17-23 feet in length. They are built from fiberglass or aluminum. These boats are made for fishing a wide variety of fishes almost in all types of water.

Pilothouse boat

They feature a fully encased pilot house. They are designed to ride rougher seas while keeping helmsman high and dry. They are generally range from 20-35 feet in length.

Pontoon boat

Pontoon boats contain 2 or 3 aluminum tubes that strengthen a broad platform. They are generally present on inland lakes and rivers. They are of 15-35 feet in length.

Power catamaran

These are generally from 25-40 feet in length with dual hull. They are used for offshore fishing.

PWC (Personal watercraft)

They are generally from 9-14 feet and designed for 1 or 2 persons. They are powered by jet drive.

Rigid Inflatable

RIBs (rigid inflatable boats) contain aluminum or fiberglass hull attached to inflatable outer tubes. They are powered by outboard motors.

Runabout

Runabout is described as a small powerboat with length range of 14-24 feet. They are powered by stern drive or outboard engine. These are a multipurpose boats used for cruising, fishing, and water sports.

Sedan bridge boat

They are usually from 35-65 feet in length.

Boats for the beginners

  1. BOWRIDER – FOUR WINNS HORIZON F190

Four winns keeps less cost of this model but it keeps the fabrication quality level of their other model lines. Bowrider is a simpler, dressed-down genre of their Horizon H190, but it still possesses a high level of fit and finish including gas-assist struts on large hatches, fully finished stowage compartments, and snap-in carpeting. It also has a custom-made trailer. The bow cockpit isn’t a bit larger. It seems like a bit cramped up forward.

Approximate price range: $30,000

  1. CENTER CONSOLE – BAYLINER ELEMENT F18

Bayliner created a fishing version of Element XL by adding a slew of fishing features. Bayliner removed all wood from the Element F18 and gave it a self-bailing cockpit. Its Fuel efficiency is notable at just over six MPG, and with a 35 MPH top-end. The rig has plenty of pep. It is powered by a mercury 90 HP four-stroke outboard. The boat does not have trim sensitivity. Whereas the M-hull design has some desirable attributes such as excellent stability.

Approximate price range: $20,000

  1. JET BOAT – YAMAHA SX210

All new Yamaha TR-1 engines are 40% smaller and 20% lighter than the MR-1. The reduction of sound levels are experienced in this boat as compared to previous models, which is a result of the TR-1’s reduced RPM, a redesigned pump inlet, and increased engine box insulation. The SX210 is a relatively basic version of yamaha’s –foot runabout line it still has the Yamaha connext touch-screen display at the helm, and its price tag includes goodies like a bimini top, snap-in carpet, and a tandem-exle trailer with disk brakes. It can be made even quieter. Although it’s an improvement but some people can still be annoyed by the high-pitched sound of the jet drive.

Approximate price: $40k

  1. PONTOON BOAT – ESCAPE RT 220

Some parts of boat are molded glass to improve the boats’ looks and to reduce problems like fence rattles and vibration. Boat is exceptionally solid, and bimini top was tested in a washing machine chop, but it appeared to be remarkably stable. RT 220 is highly customize-able and can be made fancy or simple as it offers a wide range of options.

The wobbly cocktail should be better built and more secured.

Approximate price range: $35,000

  1. POWER CRUISER – GLASTRON GS 259

It possesses a shockingly huge cabin which is not available on a cruiser under 26′. It contains a full galley, a stand-up head, a mid-cabin twin berth, and a large dinette that changes into a V-berth. The cockpit is surprisingly roomy and can accommodate half of a dozen people. The aft seat changes into a full-length sun lounge.

The boat is too much costly. The price tag is a bit overboard for a 25 feet long cruiser. Its profile should be tall, so docking on windy days couldn’t be a challenge.

Approximate price range: $80,000
